Franschhoek, Wine Valley and Gourmet Capital of South Africa.

The Franschhoek valley lies between towering mountains in the Cape Winelands. In 1685 hundreds of French Huguenots fled from France and arrived by ship at the Cape of Good Hope. Many of them where given land by the Dutch Government in the valley which they called Franschhoek. The Huguenot Monument stands proudly at the top of the village and is worth a visit.

Franschhoek offers breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality, some of the world's great wines and superb cuisine. Eight of Franschhoek's restaurants feature in the national 'Top 100'.
One can taste and buy wine at many of the wineries on the Vignerons de Franschoek as the producers along this French-influenced wine route are properly known. Include are historic homesteads such as Boschendal, La Motte and L'Ormarins.
In the village you will find wonderful art and antique shops, galleries and crafts. The main street is lined with some of the best restaurants and coffee shops. You even find fromageries and a Chocolaterie!

Franschhoek has become one of the top destinations for visitors to South Africa.
